Our next Cornwall Women in Property event is coming up soon!

Join us on the 2nd May at the St Austell Conference Centre for a new event kindly sponsored by Charles French Solicitors.

Doors will open at 09:45 with refreshments and treats provided.

The session will start at 10:00, followed by networking until 12:00.

As requested by our attendees, this new session will focus on septic tanks.

Title: How not to get caught with your pants down with Private Drainage Systems

Speaker bio: Louisa Inch CENV MCIWEM and IEMA, from Premier Water Solutions, has 24 years of experience of Surveying, Installing and Maintaining Wastewater Treatment Systems, undertaking Flood Risk Assessments and Property Flood Resilience. Louisa is the expert leader across the South West for Waste Water Treatment and Property Flood Resilience and has recently won the Innovative Water Resilience Leader at the 2024 Women in Leadership Awards.

Summary: Louisa will be discussing the difference between a cess pit / septic tank / treatment plant, will talk through the General Binding Rules and the different types of Permits and when they are required. She will talk about climate change, the impact of rising groundwater tables on private systems, what should be included in a good survey, the importance of Professional Indemnity Insurance, how a property sale can go through whilst abiding by the rules, how to prove due diligence when appointing drainage surveyors, Permits for hot tubs and backwash soakaways.

To get the best out of this presentation, Louisa encourages you to either file beforehand or ask on the day – specific questions relating to a particular case you are currently working on, that she can include in the presentation, or answer during her talk, as this will make the talk more interesting. Towards the end of the talk she will brush lightly on Understanding the Property’s Flood Risk.
