Groundsure launches new ‘Avista’ environmental search report for UK homebuyers

Groundsure, the leading authority on environmental risks in the UK, today launches Avista – the most comprehensive yet concise residential environmental search report for property buyers and the conveyancing sector.

The report, which covers all environmental risks from planning and infrastructure searches to flood risk and contaminated land, is the first of its kind to include seven key environmental searches in a single report. Avista will be available to property buyers via their conveyancers from today (6 June).

The data is gathered, analysed and filtered from over 100 million environmental data points, and clearly and concisely presented in a report that is normally less than 20 pages long. Until Avista, combination reports on the market have been over 60 pages long, making it a lengthy and difficult process for homebuyers to identify risks, and to make truly informed property purchases. The now straightforward language and omission of confusing jargon means homebuyers can easily understand the findings.

Furthermore, the Avista Action Alert system on the front page of every report provides simple signposting for next steps based on the report outcomes. The advanced alert system grades report findings from one to five based on the likelihood of identified risks causing a delay to the purchase completing swiftly. This also allows conveyancers to quickly prioritise cases at a glance, improving their case management processes.

Today’s launch follows extensive product testing, including a sample pilot scheme that ran earlier this year and more than tripled expected sales targets. Feedback from the pilot scheme indicates that the Avista report will become a significant tool for conveyancers, with over 70% of respondents rating the report ‘extremely valuable’ or ‘valuable’.

Scott Morris, a partner of Langley Wellington LLP Solicitors, took part in the pilot scheme in February, and purchased an Avista report on behalf of his client. He said: “I work on hundreds of property transactions – so the shorter style and clear navigation of the Avista report is a big winner for me. I like the signposting, the easy to read format and the Avista Action Alert provides an instant and clear snapshot of outcomes and outlines exactly what needs further investigation.”

Dan Montagnani, managing director at Groundsure says: “As a business, we are continually striving for ways to provide smarter solutions to property professionals and their clients. Our customer-first approach has allowed us to develop a product that delivers clear, concise and accurate data that makes it easy for our customers to make better property decisions. We are committed to innovation and improvement in environmental search reports, which is why we are thrilled to launch Avista. Not only will it save conveyancers considerable amounts of time, it reduces risks for all parties involved in the purchase of a property.”

Eddie Goldsmith, chairman of the Conveyancing Association, has seen the Avista report and commented: “With the increasing risk of litigation, overstepping areas of expertise, and data overload to contend with, a report like Avista is welcomed by the conveyancing industry. There is more data clearly communicated which reduces risks and saves precious time, benefitting home-buyers and conveyancers alike.”
