Groundsure-Sponsored Camborne RFC U16s win the County Bowl

As you may know, Groundsure are the proud sponsors of the U16 youth development team at Camborne Rugby Club in Cornwall. Located close to our office at the Pool Innovation Centre, the club is part of the beating heart of the proud community of Camborne, an epicentre of the former tin mining industry.

The youth team has been growing from strength to strength this season and has capped off a fine string of results with a great 14-8 win against Launceston RFC U16 to claim the County Bowl. Here are the words from the match report by Jeff Nicholas at the club:

“Losing the toss, Camborne had to play down the slope in the first half and following swings in momentum, went in at half time with a lead of 14-5. Playing up the slope in the second half, and with Launceston having the lion’s share of possession, the team’s defensive qualities were severely tested. However, through sheer grit and commitment they limited their opponents to a solitary penalty score and narrowly missed out on scoring their third try late in the game.

This is an outstanding achievement for this team as at the start of the 2021/22 season they did not exist as a playing group. It is through the tenacity of the players and the commitment of their coaches, Wayne, Chris and Tim, that they finish this season with a well earned competition victory. As they head up to Colts, this will hopefully give them a great boost and set them up well for future campaigns.”

We are delighted to have played our part this season not just as shirt sponsors but in helping to support with resources to enable the development of the team. This provides not only a strong funnel of talent up into the more senior teams, but develops home-grown talent to build pride in the shirt and the community.

We are looking forward to developing and extending our support for Camborne RFC in the coming seasons.
