A Cornish rugby club may not be the most obvious sponsorship partner for Groundsure at first glance – but there’s plenty of reasons why this formed and has proven to be both meaningful and impactful.
Since 2016, Groundsure has been proud to partner with Camborne Rugby Football Club (CRFC), as one of its main sponsors. At the heart of the Camborne and Redruth community in Cornwall, it’s based at the Recreation Ground in Camborne. CRFC plays a vital role beyond the rugby pitch. Through sustained sponsorship and strategic support, Groundsure has helped the club expand its reach and deepen its impact in an area facing significant socio-economic challenges.
Over the last decade, the on-going support has enabled CRFC to stay true to its mission: making sport accessible to all, while strengthening its role as a community hub.
Building confidence and key skills:
Camborne and the surrounding area experience some of the highest levels of child poverty and social deprivation in Cornwall. Many young people lack access to safe, structured extracurricular activities, limiting opportunities to build their confidence and essential life skills outside of school.
The club actively reaches out to children who may not otherwise engage with sport, with players and coaches visiting local schools, delivering taster sessions, and encouraging participation from underprivileged and disadvantaged groups.
Camborne Rugby Football Club uses rugby as a vehicle for personal development by teaching life skills—discipline, teamwork, respect, and resilience in its players. These are qualities that extend into school life, home environments, and future careers.
A partnership that works:
While CRFC has long been a community anchor, like many grassroots clubs, it has faced challenges – from outdated facilities to rising operational costs, and the ongoing need to engage families and children who might not otherwise visit the club.
Groundsure’s support goes beyond funding new kits and equipment – across all age groups.
This is a sustained partnership that helps deliver an inclusive rugby programme that nurtures young people’s athletic ability, personal development and as members of the community.
The club supports teams ranging from: children of 4 years of age through to Colts (16-18 years), through to the first team competing in National League 2 West, (now promoted to National League 1), the club provides opportunities for boys and girls as young as four years old. During the last ten-year partnership, Groundsure have seen a number of the younger team members grow and go on to play for the adult teams.
Celebrating success: Camborne Women’s Team
A standout moment this year has been the success of the Camborne Women’s team. Following an amazing season, it’s with pride that we announce that the Camborne Women’s team secured promotion after a decisive victory in the Women’s NC 3 South West league on 22nd March, by defeating Falmouth Women with a brilliant 56–0 scoreline on home ground.
Throughout the season, the team have gone from strength-to-strength, by improving their skills and rugby tactics, deepening their player bond and welcoming new players to the team.

Team captain, Tanya Glasson (holding the cup below) said: “We’re thrilled to have won and we’re full of pride as a team. It’s a moment in history for Camborne women’s rugby, with the first ever promotion. We’ve worked hard throughout the season. The promotion has been through years of working hard to better this section and is supported by people like yourself. We want to thank you (Groundsure) for your generous sponsorship throughout and the support this season for Camborne Women’s team.”
At the end of the season, additional success also rang in with the men’s first team whose promotion into the third tier of National League 1 and placed them within touching distance of the Championship. The men’s second team also have their league, Counties 2 Tribute Ale Cornwall, and have secured promotion with two games of the current season left to play. The promotion securing match was an outstanding victory of 55 to 24 over local rivals Helston.
The Colts reached the season ending league cup but suffered a defeat to Penryn & Falmouth.
