We are looking for an experienced professional with experience in the design, management and risk assessment of environmental site investigations. The candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of working with contractors, managing contracts and liaising with regulators.


The successful candidate will be responsible quoting and undertaking Phase I’s, environmental audits and Phase II investigations, as well as providing technical expert advice to clients and mentoring junior consultants, with a view to developing the skills set within the business.

You will need to have good communication skills and be able to build effective relationships with clients to support the sales team. Planning and time management will be key as you will have to multi-task several projects and deadlines.

 Your main duties will be:

  • Assisting in project management of all consultancy project work (Phase 1, 2, DQRA, Formal Second Opinions, etc)
  • Budgetary control of consultancy project work
  • Workflow management
  • Junior staff supervision and training
  • Peer review and preparation of proposals and reports

 Your key accountabilities will be:

  • Demonstrable improvements in proposal / tender success rates
  • Delivery of technically robust consultancy services to client
  • Projects delivered on time and within budget
  • Delivery of consultancy services exceeding client expectations
  • Ability to review and support junior staff report writing and contribution
  • Ability to manage workflow and project delivery with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at any one time
  • Continual improvement of consultancy services and staff knowledge
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key clients

 Capabilities and Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level with likely second degree and relevant professional qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of contaminated land risk assessment, site investigation design and remedial options
  • Proven capability to supervise, design, manage and deliver contaminated land risk assessment under minimal supervision
  • Proven understanding of current environmental legislation and comprehensive understand of future environmental legislation and how it relates to Groundsure business
  • Ability to talk to clients on a technical and non-technical basis
  • Ability to identify additional client requirements and develop solutions to meet their needs
  • Ability to assist in business development based on experience and client knowledge
  • Wider knowledge of environmental issues and ability to contribute to new work areas is preferable
