Ambiental Risk Analytics, a company of Royal HaskoningDHV, produce flood maps, flood risk datasets, catastrophe models and flood forecasting products internationally. Ambiental’s datasets provide high granularity insights into multiple flood hazards including Groundwater, as well as an indication of the insurance risk classification. Using predictive analytics, digital mapping and machine learning, Ambiental provide actionable intelligence through data to reduce damage and risk to lives and property.

The British Geological Survey is part of the Natural Environment Research Council and collects, processes and publishes geoscientific data for government, academic and commercial purposes, principally for the UK but also internationally. It advises the UK Government on geological processes and resources. They produce data on underlying geology, soil chemistry, geological resources, mines and mineral resources. Their data is used in Groundsure’s ground stability search reports.

A local authority can be a district or unitary council and these fall, along with county councils, under the description of Local Government. Local authorities have a variety of responsibilities and these include issues like air pollution consents and designated contaminated land, which they are obliged to maintain public registers of. Local authorities, along with National Park authorities are also responsible for planning, both at a local strategic and application level. All planning authorities maintain a public database of planning applications.

Data that is available under OGL is free to use, including commercially, as long as it adheres to the terms of the Licence. The OGL is intended to be simple and to encourage the use of the data to which it applies. SNH is funded by the Scottish Government and holds an equivalent role to Natural England, promoting and undertaking nature conservation in Scotland.
