The GroundSure 10th Anniversary Series - Looking back at 2001
2001, this was our very first logo...
In the UK, 2001 was also the year of...
- the Labour Party's second general election victory
- the merger of Bank of Scotland and Halifax to form HBOS plc
- Liverpool winning both the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup
- 2001 also saw The Law Society introduce the Warning Card on Contaminated Land.
Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 provided a statutory regime for the assessment of Contaminated Land. Ten years later the Contaminated Land Regulations 2000 provided the necessary framework for practical implementation of the contaminated land regime and instigated the Law Society’s Warning Card in April 2001.
The Warning Card was responsible for establishing the consideration of contaminated land in mainstream property transactions – both commercial and residential. Environmental searches were established in response to this newly evolved requirement. Since this time we have seen further evolution and development of these services including products for related matters such as ground stability, flooding and planning.
