Home Information Packs Suspended
The Government has today (20 May 2010) announced that Home Information Packs (HIPs) are to be suspended with immediate effect pending legislation for a permanent abolition.
The CLG (Communities and Local Government) made the announcement this morning at 10:00. The move confirms the positions of both the Conservative and the Liberal Democrat Parties, both of whom carried the removal of HIPs as a manifesto policy prior to the General Election.
Further details are available from the CLG website.
The move will likely cause a period of turbulence for the conveyancing search report market as adjustments are made in response to the announcement. The Government has stated that such a decisive move has been made in order to avoid a situation where a drawn out period of uncertainty might cause stifling of the recovering property market.
GroundSure is working with a number of partners to address the disruption and commercial impact of the recent decision with the release of a new neighbourhood intelligence product designed to comprise one part of a sales pack for vendors. Further information is available here: StreetTalking
