GroundSure History

GroundSure was founded in 2001 in response to evolving requirements for environmental search reports and environmental information to support property transactions in the UK. Growing demand was present in part as a result of the introduction of the Law Society Warning Card on Contaminated Land.

GroundSure quickly established itself as a leading supplier of environmental search reports in the legal conveyancing sector.

In 2005 GroundSure signed a deal with Barclays Bank to provide the first environmental search report solution to become a mandated element within the standard lending procedures for a top UK Bank. GroundSure has continued to build upon its services to the financial sector and has worked extensively with the majority of major clearing and investment banks in the UK as well as various funds and investment houses.

Towards the end of 2006 GroundSure launched its historical mapping and geo-environmental data service for the Environmental Consultancy sector. For the first time this provided Environmental Consultants with a choice of provider for mapping and data provision since the introduction of collated and maintained electronic databases of the environmental information in the mid 1990s with a sole market supplier from this time.

In April 2007 Emap Ltd announced its acquisition of the entire shareholding capital of GroundSure. The company was now part of a much larger business information and intelligence company and today resides in the Insight Division of Emap alongside a stable of other leading business information companies.
